SPEAKING AND LISTENING TEST GUIDELINE: FOR CANDIDATE
-The following are guidelines for your Speaking and Listening assessment for Level 2 Functional Skills English. The rules below are applicable for both Edexcel and OCR candidates.
The assessment will be split into two parts, the presentation (speaking) and discussion (both speaking and listening).
For the presentation, you are required to make notes on your chosen topic, as this will aid the examiner when it comes to assessing whether you have gained the Level 2 Skills.
The presentation can be about anything, from your goals and ambitions to your last family holiday. It should be on a topic that you are passionate about. Please make sure your presentation is between 5-10 minutes long. If the presentation is too short, you may not have given yourself enough time to fulfill the Level 2 criteria.
The second part is the discussion. This will be about an unfamiliar subject chosen by your assessor. The assessor will be looking for candidates who listen to their peers as well as contribute to the discussion to the best of their ability.
You will be required to hand in your presentation notes to the assessor at the end of the assessment.
If you have any further questions for the assessment please ask the assessor.
